YOUR BEAUTY Q'S ANSWERED

MEGANS DRESS HERE

Every now and then a good ol fashion Q & A is just what the doctor ordered… So I put out the call to you and grabbed a few great questions to delve into this week on Studio 5. There were more than I could answer within our time constraints so be on the lookout for more answers over on my Instagram.

  • If you lost your entire makeup collection, what is the first product you would re purchase?

    • I cannot live without a great full coverage concealer, so I would buy the Tarte Shape Tape Creamy to save my complexion first.

  • Thoughts on Frownies?

    • They do work to help train the muscles and smooth the skin, but the dedication needed to apply them and remove them every night and morning is more than I can spare. Botox works for me, but if that’s not your jam- these are cheap and effective. Frownies Here

  • Eyebrow Color! How do I find the best shade?

    • In my years as a makeup artist I have come to the conclusion that mid-range tones look the most flattering on everyone. So if you have very dark hair take a couple steps towards a lighter brown to soften the brows. If you are on the blonde side of the spectrum, take two steps down towards that center/medium point. If you already fall in the mid range, you can stay there- but maybe try playing around with cooler tones and avoid anything too warm/ red. Even true redheads look best with a cooler brow tone. • What are some foundations that won’t oxidize and suggestions for best drugstore option?

    • Oxidation happens with certain people and their molecular structure on the skin. Typically it is a reaction with oil molecules found in the skin naturally or from a product your using that contains some sort of oil. Try swapping out your foundation for a water-based formula, or start with a lighter shade, knowing that it will darken slightly after it’s on your skin. Try this water-based foundation

  • How do you know when to transition to makeup for ‘mature’ skin?

    • There’s no magic age, but typically it’s when you notice a change in the texture of your skin and makeup that used to work well for you doesn’t hold up or look the same as it once did. When this happens- focus more on your skincare and your skin prep under your makeup, and experiment with application methods. In my younger years I would have NEVER applied anything with my fingers… but now as my skin has matured this is my favorite technique. It just works better with my pores and fine lines. Try brushes, sponges and fingers to determine what works best for you. Plumping Primer & Blurring Eye Stick
